PC Kelly explained that once a child turns 10 years old, they can be held legally responsible for their actions. This means that behaviour such as theft, damage, or harmful communication can have serious consequences – even at a young age.

  • 🪲🔎Magnifiers at the Ready!🦋🔎

    Published 30/06/25

We've had a wild and wonderful morning exploring the mini-beasts of the natural world! The children were buzzing with excitement as they checked out tadpoles in three different stages some legless, some with back legs, and some ready to hop off! We’ve got three butterfly cocoons hanging in suspense and a collection of unfortunate insects who met their end in Mrs. Trivett’s very toasty conservatory.

With magnifiers in hand, we zoomed in on wings, patterns, and textures galore. But the real showstopper? A dragonfly nymph that crawled out of the pond after two years of underwater adventures (and a few tadpole snacks), then split open to reveal a stunning dragonfly! It took off into the sky, leaving behind its spooky-cool empty shell. We even watched a YouTube clip of the whole transformation needless to say, the kids were hooked!

Pupils showed great teamwork and used key scientific terms such as filtration, evaporation, and physical change. The final step evaporating the salty water to leave behind salt crystals will be completed using the sun!
