Year 4
Welcome to our Year 4 class page! This page aims to provide you with relevant information linked to our class. If there is anything you can’t find, do come and speak to one of us!
Our lovely Year 4 class are taught by Miss Bingham and Mrs Sykes with the support of Mrs Ryder.
Learning:
The Autumn term's learning focuses on Invasion where we will explore the conflict between the Vikings and Anglo-Saxons as well as comparing their everyday lives. We will then move onto geography and learn about our Interconnected World. In this unit, we will learn about compass points as well as the tropics and climates. During the Autumn term, our science learning will involve Food & Digestion and Sound. The knowledge organisers for all of our units above can be found below to support your child with their learning.
Our Autumn curriculum map can be found below to give you a flavour of our learning this term as well as the spellings for homework too.
Useful Information:
- During the Autumn term, our PE days are Tuesdays and Thursdays. Year 4 will go swimming every Tuesday so must bring their swimming kits into school on this day. On Thursdays we will be exploring dodgeball before moving onto dance. On both days, children can come to school wearing their PE kits.
- Homework will come home on Fridays and is due the following Thursday. Homework will consist of spellings to learn for a test each Thursday as well as alternative reading comprehensions and SPaG activities and times table practice using Times Table Rockstars. All logins for TTRS and Ed Shed (a website full of brilliant games and activities linked to spelling rules) can be found in the front cover of your child’s reading diary.
- Please try and make sure that you read with your child as regularly as possible and record this in their reading record.
- Children should have their reading books and reading records in school every day and please record when you hear your child read in the reading records. Reading books will be changed frequently.
