St. John's Nursery

St. John’s Nursery class is part of a vibrant and purposeful Foundation Stage Unit with excellent GLD results. As a Catholic School, we believe that every child is unique and loved by God, and our motto, Love One Another permeates all that we undertake.
We believe that strong, warm relationships and deep child knowledge are key to a thriving EYFS and much time is invested in getting to know each child. Staff make time to chat to challenge and support children throughout the day. We have high expectations of behaviour and progress, which are evident in how our children conduct themselves.

Our Nursery Curriculum is based on high-quality books and related hands-on experiences that encourage our children to develop vocabulary and understanding whilst inspiring curiosity and thinking skills. Carefully planned and inviting Continuous Provision activities encourage engagement and develop concentration.

Our Unit is often filled with music, and we have a piano for daily singing and dancing time and plenty of other opportunities for live music. Our outdoor space is inviting with its beautifully maintained planters and generous beds of herbs that we use in our Mud kitchen. We are very fortunate to have our own woods to explore, and we invest much time in getting to know our environment. So when it comes to transition into Reception, our Nursery children are already settled, known and ready to learn, which gives them a flying start.
